Have you been looking for new ways to use your kid’s beloved magnet blocks? I came up with a list of 7 magnet tile ideas that your kid will love! Plus they won’t even realize they are learning and practicing new skills while they do it!
Magnet Tile Towers
With this magnet block activity, I put some painter’s tape up on the wall to be the goal for the tower height and then my son worked to build his tower out of magnetic tiles to reach the top of the tape. This is a great STEM activity for all ages!
Letter and Number Puzzles
I created these fun letter and number puzzles (find them here) for my son to practice his letter recognition while having fun building with his magnet blocks.
Magnetic Block Dominos
This turned out super fun! You can make dominos out of magnet tiles. All you need to do is line up a bunch of squares flat on the ground and then add either squares or the tall triangles along the line and you have instant domino fun!
Garage Color Sort
If you have a little one that loves cars like I do, this is a great way to work on colors while they play! We first built garages of different colors. Then we got all of our different toy cars and he had to drive each of them into the garage that matched the car’s color. (I have more truck and car activities here)
Letter Practice
Did you know you can use dry-erase markers on magnetic tiles? Me either! I tested it out for you and it works great! So with that, I wrote all the letters A-Z on individual squares. Then I mixed them all up and had my son put them in the order of the alphabet. We did this together while singing the ABC song.
Number Stack
This fun activity helps your little ones work on their counting skills and number recognition. All you need is post-it notes and some magnet squares. You can then write numbers on each post-it note and place them somewhere magnetic like the dishwasher, fridge, or even a baking sheet! Then have your kiddo identify the numbers and count the magnet blocks up to make the right set for the number.
Color Sort
Another super easy color activity! You only need a few pieces of different colored paper and your magnet blocks. Then you do is put the pieces of paper on the fridge and your little one can then sort their magnet tiles by color by placing them on the correct piece of paper.
I hope you and your little one can enjoy all of these fun magnet tile ideas! If you like these ideas and want to see them in action you can follow me on TikTok!
